The preseason is mercifully over for Bills fans. The Bills offense struggled this exhibition season, more than “W” without spell check. I know that what happens isn’t indicative of how the regular season will play out, but when the reserved Dick Jauron expresses concern to the media about his offense, you know something is wrong. The starting offense failed to score an offensive touchdown this preseason, and that retooled offensive line looks like it is a hammer and screwdriver short of being competent. Edwards has been under constant pressure and the running game has not established itself at all. Many Bills fans point to the fact that TO suited up for one series, and say that once he hits the field the Bills offense will be the 1998 Vikings reincarnated. Not so fast. Owens does not block, or call the plays. With Edwards scrambling for his life and no running game to keep defenses honest, getting the ball to Owens and Evans will be a chore. My only hope is that the Bills are keeping the offense close to the vest, and will open it up come Monday night against the Pat’s. I wouldn’t hold my breath.

The Oregon Boise State game, while a battle of top 25 teams, failed to live up to the hype in my opinion. With two explosive, innovative offenses early in the season I was expecting a shootout. Instead the most entertaining and newsworthy nugget took place after the battle. The Ducks LeGarrette Blount, who like his teammates had a horrible night toting the rock, punched the Broncos Byron Hout. Blount then proceded to the fan section and had to be restrained by half of the Idaho PD. This action is not acceptable and the NCAA should make an example of this and suspend Blount for at least half of the season, if not the entire 2009 campaign. I dont’ care that Blount is a seni0r. As a senior he should know how to deal with defeat, adversity and smack talk. Actions like Blount’s can lead to all out brawls, just ask Ron Artest and the Pacers.
